FIRSTGEN FORWARD POLICY ON DATA PRIVACY, SECURITY, & CONSENT

FirstGen Forward agrees with the philosophy that an individual has the right to know how their personally identifying data is being used.

FirstGen Forward maintains industry-standard security of personally identifying data and updates those protocols on a regular basis. 

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

FirstGen Forward uses personally identifying data to provide information about the products, programs, and services in which an individual may be interested. FirstGen Forward uses the information provided in an individual’s profile to customize the information received or with which they may be presented.

FirstGen Forward uses publicly available data about institutions to further customize the information an individual may receive or be presented with based on the fact that the individual is an employee of that institution.

FirstGen Forward uses data about previous registrations, purchases, downloads, subscriptions, or other transactions to customize the information an individual may receive or be presented with.

FirstGen Forward uses data in aggregate to identify trends about groups of individuals and about the industry itself.

WHEN IS DATA SHARED OUTSIDE OF FIRSTGEN FORWARD STAFF?

When a product, program, or service is being conducted, administered, or coordinated by volunteer leader(s) of FirstGen Forward, the organization will share contact information (does not include phone numbers) about the individual and about the individual’s purchase or registration with those volunteers. FirstGen Forward will only share the information needed to facilitate the interaction. FirstGen Forward will never share financial information such as credit card numbers.

When a product, program, or service is co-sponsored by FirstGen Forward and an unrelated organization, FirstGen Forward, with your permission, will share basic contact information (name, job title, institution, and preferred mailing address) with that co-sponsor. An individual can decline the opportunity to share their information at the time of registration or purchase. We do not share email addresses or phone numbers.

FirstGen Forward gathers aggregate statistics about visitors to its website and may provide this information to third parties for analysis. This information does not contain behavioral or identifying information about any individual user.

FirstGen Forward uses third party companies to provide delivery of electronic communications which requires provision of individual information. The service agreement with these companies prohibits any other use of this information.

DATA SHARING WITH AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS

FirstGen Forward maintains relationships and partnerships with affiliated organizations, under which we provide access to comprehensive contact data for the purpose of executing programs and services tied to FirstGen Forward’s mission. This data may include, but is not limited to: name, job title, institution, preferred mailing address, email address, phone numbers, and other relevant profile information. These organizations include NASPA, a co-founder and manager if FirstGen Forward's operations through a management services agreement.

The affiliated organization(s) may use this data for purposes aligned with FirstGen Forward's mission, including offering relevant services, programs, or products to our contacts. The data shared is not limited in scope, and the affiliated organization has access to the full range of data provided.

These data-sharing arrangements will be noted at the time of registration. Contacts consent to the sharing of their data with the affiliated organization as part of this agreement.

FirstGen Forward ensures that the affiliated organization adheres to rigorous data privacy and security standards comparable to those of FirstGen Forward. Regular reviews and audits are conducted to ensure compliance.

In the event of any data breaches involving shared data, FirstGen Forward and the affiliated organization will coordinate responses in accordance with pre-established data breach protocols, ensuring timely notification to affected contacts.
