Our Initiatives
Since our founding in 2017, FirstGen Forward has assisted higher education institutions to improve their first-generation students' success. Today, the organization has grown and become a collaborative effort across the entire higher education system and beyond, serving millions of first-generation students and becoming the premier resource for data, scholarship, and best practices related to first-gen student success.
TIAA Innovation Award
Open to accredited 2- and 4-year higher education institutions, the Innovation Award will award up to $10,000 of unrestricted funds to creative or scalable solutions to advance the success of first-gen students.
